MacPractice Adds HL7 Interface in Update

Lincoln, NE, July 23, 2007 - MacPractice, Inc., developer of MacPractice MD for physicians, MacPractice DDS for dentists, MacPractice DC for chiropractors, and MacPractice 20/20 for optometrists, the preeminent Mac OS X practice management software and clinical applications, announces the release of MacPractice 2.2.14 with HL7.

Among numerous enhancements, MacPractice 2.2.14 can interact with Clinical Labs, EMR software, third party medical and dental digital imaging solutions, and medical and dental solutions from the many other healthcare vendors whose products support industry standard HL7. Interfaces created in cooperation with MacPractice eliminate redundant data entry and enhance functionality.

MacPractice supports bidirectional HL7 messaging. Two of MacPractice's alliance partners, Spring Medical and ComChart plan to use this capability to pass charges created in their SpringCharts® EMR and ComChart software to MacPractice to eliminate errors and improve efficiency. Enhanced bidirectional HL7 interfaces with both applications are in testing.

"Incorporating HL7 messaging into MacPractice practice management software is another first on the Mac for us. This greatly expands the variety of solutions MacPractice users can have access to, and makes the Mac an even more viable platform for healthcare professionals. With the use of a Virtual Machine from Parallels or VMWare, CrossOver Mac from CodeWeavers, Microsoft's Remote Desktop Client (RDC), there isn't anything a doctor can't do on a Mac anymore" said Mark Hollis, President of MacPractice.

1,750 doctors' offices have chosen MacPractice to provide their practice management software and technical support. MacPractice, Inc. also supports the use of Mac OS 9 applications MediMac, ChiroMac, and DentalMac by several hundred offices.

Doctors are encouraged to view QuickTime demonstration movies of MacPractice MD, DC, 20/20, or DDS, after registering at MacPractice.com.
